Increase In Claim

An increased claim is submitted when a veteran believes that a service-connected condition has worsened over time and deserves a higher disability rating. This claim asks the VA to re-evaluate the current rating based on updated symptoms, new medical evidence, or increased impact on the veteran’s life and ability to work.

What to Include:

• Updated medical evidence (showing the condition has worsened)
• Personal or witness lay statements describing current limitations
• Work or daily life examples impacted by worsening condition
• Any new diagnoses related to or worsening the original issue
• VA Form 21-526EZ (for requesting an increase)
